During distance vision testing, the examination distance is set at 5 meters, and the eye chart should be positioned at a height of 1.0 meter to align with the subject's eye level.

The examiner should start by checking the right eye and then the left eye. If the child wears glasses, the examiner should also assess their vision with the glasses on, which is known as corrected vision.

Failing to do so may lead to higher visual acuity measurements for both eyes, affecting the accuracy of the results. Additionally, it is common for children to squint, tilt their heads, or move their bodies during the examination, which can introduce subjectivity into the results.
