Fundus photography mainly examines the posterior pole of the fundus, including the optic nerve, fundus blood vessels, macular area, vitreous body and retina.
Fundus photography is an important method for diagnosing fundus related diseases. After mydriasis, the doctor uses fundus microscopy to check whether there are any lesions in the fundus, and takes photos of the fundus, prints and records the current degree and scope of lesions. We can observe whether the optic nerve is atrophy, whether the fundus blood vessels are abnormal, whether the macular area has degeneration or bleeding, whether the vitreous body is cloudy, and whether the retina is degenerative.
Fundus lesions are often secondary to systemic diseases such as hypertension, kidney disease, diabetes, etc., and fundus photographic examination is more intuitive, which can assist the diagnosis and treatment of the disease course, and is also conducive to doctor-patient communication.
